HR & Operations Manager

About the Role

JAKS is seeking an experienced HR & Operations Manager to take full ownership of all non-client-facing functions of the firm. This is a senior internal role to manage our people, processes, infrastructure, and operations – with autonomy and accountability.
You will be the single point of ownership for everything that keeps JAKS running internally: hiring, employee lifecycle, office operations, vendor management, compliance, internal systems, and management reporting. The role reports directly to the leadership team.

Key Responsibilities

Human Resources

You will own the full employee lifecycle — manpower planning, recruitment, onboarding, performance management, appraisals, retention, and exits. This includes building and maintaining HR MIS and employee records, running payroll inputs, attendance and leave management, and ensuring full compliance with applicable labour laws (PF, ESI, PT, gratuity, shops & establishments, etc.). You will design and drive employee engagement initiatives, address grievances, and foster a high-performance, professional work culture aligned with the standards expected at a consulting firm.

Operations & Administration

You will run day-to-day office operations at JAKS Cochin Locations — facilities, assets, IT coordination, workplace safety, and vendor management. This includes managing administrative budgets, travel and logistics, procurement, and AMC contracts. You will set up and maintain internal SOPs, track operational KPIs, and ensure the office runs smoothly without partner-level intervention.

Internal Coordination & Management Support
You will act as the operational right hand to leadership – coordinating across teams, tracking internal projects, preparing management dashboards, and ensuring decisions translate into execution. You will also support compliance with internal policies, data confidentiality standards, and ICAI-aligned firm protocols.

What We’re Looking For

  • 5–8 years of relevant experience in HR and operations roles, with at least 2 years in an independent ownership capacity
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in HR, Business Administration, or a related field
  • Strong working knowledge of Indian labour laws, statutory compliance, and HR best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to run office operations and vendor ecosystems independently
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and stakeholder management skills
  • High organisational discipline, multitasking ability, and bias for closure
  • Proficiency in MS Office, HRMS tools, and basic data/MIS reporting

Preferred

  • Prior experience in a Chartered Accountancy firm, law firm, consulting firm, or other professional services environment
  • Exposure to multi-location office management
  • Strong problem-solving instincts and the maturity to operate as an internal leader without day-to-day supervision
